Characters Voices

The role of “character” is a very broad role, as a character is any person or other being in a narrative. As such, voicing characters is a broad category, however it can be narrowed down into different types of characters. Different characters have different occupations, nationalities, ethnicities, can be male or female, human or another creature, or otherwise differ from other characters.

Since each character is different, it is best to study the character you are voicing, and compare it to other characters who share the same traits, genre and plot structuring or themes from other media sources. Asking the writer of the script to tell you more about the character and how it should be portrayed is also helpful. Combining these two approaches should give a rough starting point for how the character should sound, and how you should voice it.
